Don’t Waste Your Time

Don’t Waste Your Time

Don’t waste time.

“You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind” Author Unknown

This quote basically means that you shouldn’t just sit there thinking and planning about what you will do. I’m not saying don’t plan, but rather don’t waste time on planning. Instead you should spend most of your time physically doing the work. Thinking about your homework isn’t going to get it finished, putting effort and hard work into it will.

This quote is a good example of what I shouldn’t be doing. I often waste my time thinking about how I’m going to do the work instead of just starting it. A few years ago, my teacher gave my class a science fair style project. It involved many steps and included filling out a 30 page booklet. Out of the 2 months given to me to complete the project, I wasted about 6 weeks thinking about the project and doing nothing. When there were only 2 weeks left, I finally realized that I should start the actual work. But by that time it was already too late. The end result was a messy display board, a poorly planned and presented presentation, and a low mark, in my standards of course. So to sum it up the quote basically means that when you think about the work, you haven’t really done anything yet. You must do the real work to complete it.
