So you’ve become a student.  Well done.  Ahead of you lies three, or fours years of dossing about the place and drinking beer.  No doubt you will find yourself naked, covered in your own, or someone else’s vomit, and in front of a packed audience in the London palladium with no idea how you got there.  Its happened to us all, don’t sweat it, they just think its part of the show.  It may help to quote Shakespeare at them to add to the illusion. 

I’ll be honest with you, even if you work a part time job, you’ll never have so much money and have to do so little to get it for the rest of your life.  You existence is, more or less, at its zenith.  After these years there will never again be long Christmas breaks and endless summers.  From then on you’ll never be able to take a week off, and only receive and miffed email from your advisor.  In short, you will be a grown up.

Now, I don’t want to break up the party, but sometimes university staff member will you to complete some pointless task or other.  These normally involve the writing of essays that no one really cares about, or some pointless cram exam or other.  Of course, the reality is that no one really cares if  you understand the topic, or if you believe any rubbish that you write.  All they care about is that you tick some boxes that suggest you understand the basic principles at stake.  The best idea is to stick pretty much to the script; certainly you should never disagree with your lecturer.

Now, I certainly do want you to have fun, so below are links to some politics essays I wrote.  They both got decent grades, so they should inspire you towards the basic idea you are aiming for.  This should cut down the time you waste on pesky assignments and increase your party time. 

Politics and international relations interest me, so if you have an essay topic I don’t cover; then post it to me and I’ll jot you something together.  Don’t plagiarise me, because that would just be plain stupid.  Everyone loves a cheat, no one likes an idiot.
