How to Prepare for Exams
A guide on how to prepare for exams.
Exams are stressful but are necessary. This is a guide on how to prepare for an exam, whether it is a GCSE or your finals.
1) Make a revision timetable and stick to it. Breaking down the exam into manageable chunks allows you to successfully revise for the exam. Each day do something instead of cramming it all in the last minute.
2) Eat well and carry out plenty of exercise- do not sit around all day, play outside and eat properly. Not eating properly will cause you to be ill.
3) Go through as many past questions as possible- some of the questions are just repeated from previous tests and keep going through as many as you can as it will be prove to be invaluable.
4) Take breaks- every so often (usually every 30 minutes to allow yourself to relax and unwind). Long periods of revision do not prove effective compared to short bursts.
5) Reward yourself with a treat after you have a completed a topic- such as a chocolate bar or a piece of fruit- this is to keep you motivated.
6) The day before relax and do not do any revision- last minute cramming will not work as you will just forget it in the exam.
These are the key points to be successful in an exam. Remember in the exam:
– Do not rush.
– Read the question.
– Check through your work.
