Teaching Your Child About Friendship and Caring
The role parents play in the rearing and teaching of their child. How pictures and words play a vital part in the learning process.
Every responsible parent wants their child to learn about the values of friendship and caring from an early age, and there’s no better way of instilling those values than through pictures and words.
Picture books not only have the advantage of enthralling and captivating a young mind, they also empower the parent with the ability to teach. Children appreciate having stories read to them by their parents and have done so throughout history, and regular reading sessions not only entertain the toddler and parent, it helps to develop a deep and lasting bond between them.
Online games for children are popular and can increase creativity in a young mind but, online games can also have an adverse affect by reducing acts of violence to little more than harmless fun for the player, especially games of war or criminal behaviour. A young mind can easily be influenced as there are no repercussions in playing these type of games, the reality and consequences just aren’t present and can’t be enforced. It’s a terrible thought that a young child can learn to kill and steal just by playing these games.
Learning the skills of friendship, caring and companionship from an early age are vital to the development of a child. Words and pictures combined are not only a powerful influence, they’re also an inexpensive way of giving your youngster the best possible start in life – and these tools often come free!
Sunshine People is a site for children that combines fun and learning for free. It has picture books that can be read in its online library [page turning is fun!] plus colouring books, and the opportunity for children to make their very own unique Sunshine Picture – I made one, it’s easy!
As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters, it’s our duty to ensure that kids get the correct start in life that they deserve. Children are our future.
