Home Schooled Kids Often Get Attached to Their Internet Friends
Since home schooled kids have little or no friends because they don’t go to school they can often get attached to their internet friends…
Not too long ago I did a test on an online game called “Arcanists” to see if a home schooled guy aged 14 would get attached to me if I was really nice to him and became friends with him. I posed as a 12 year old girl (even though I’m a guy that’s not out of my teens yet) and became his friend. (He was a complete stranger from a different country)
Not long after we had started playing Arcanists together he started to “like like” me and said some of the following things:
“Your Awsome” (said that one a lot)
“I like you”
“Your the nicest person I’ve ever met”
The last one on the list is quite sad, because at 14 years of age, the nicest person he’s ever met was an internet friend he’d known for a couple of days. After this he got rather attached, started talking about sexually explicit things because, he had no brothers or sisters and his parents were hardcore Christians that he was not close to so he would never really had got to talk to them about sex.
A bit further down the track he asked for my email address and started emailing me a fair bit. He then said that he was home schooled and had no friends, no brothers or sisters and he was not close to his parents who were very strict about things like looking at porn (normal for teenage boys) and about having online friends.
After about a week I said that I was moving and where I was moving had no internet. He said he would miss me then said he “loved me”. This is the sad part of being home schooled if you have parents your not too close to. Because often you don’t have any friends, so you get lonely, then you might get attached to your online friends. This isn’t the best idea because if you do that you will most often get hurt.
That is something that a lot of parents that home school their teenage kids may not know, so think about what happened to that guy before you home school your kids.
