Inside a Teenage Mind
Helps parents out in understanding the youth, and why today’s youth are so defiant. Might help parents understand teens a lot more.
Parents when you were younger, didn’t you always feel like your parents didn’t understand you? Did you use to think that, your parents didn’t understand you at all? Well that is how teenagers feel today. The only difference is that we are more expressive. We aren’t defiant we just let it be known that we aren’t happy, and that things need to change. If you have kids around let them read this article, and get their opinions. Ask them if they agree with some of these statements.
This generation is unique because of the fact that we stand up for ourselves. We are the generation where all the past frustration, and past disappointment from older generations get expressed to the world. By that I mean all the problems that occurred before our time, and were never addressed or solved will make its way to the world through us. Take for instance the riots in Iran, and the increase of global awareness protesters. Or the largest one of all look at who our president is, we elected him.
My point is that we, the teens or kids, are tired of being pushed around. We noticed that keeping our mouths closed to the grown ups won’t help, because if we don’t correct them who will. Parents have ran this world for a long while, and what has happened? The economies of the world have fallen, people are dieing of hunger, droughts are occurring, and the climate is falling ill. Kids never have said anything, and we are always the ones who pay the price. We have to learn from our parents, and they are the ones who leave us with a world that is critically in need of repairs, in every aspect. It will be us who really fix this global economy. It will be us who will fix the earth’s atmosphere and climate. We will be the generations who feed the hungry, and cure the diseased.
We don’t want to be mean, but stop trying to run our lives so much that you run us ragged. Trust us more to be more independent whether you think we are ready or not. Stop telling us who we can or can not date, you are our parents but we love who we love you cannot change that. Remember you make you own choices, and sometimes mess up. Let us make our choices, and let us mess up, it’s a way of life.
Stop forcing religion on us because whether you like it or not we don’t always agree with you. Let things that have to do withour life be up to us. I’ve heard teenagers talk about school, and why they have bad grades, and why they ditch their classes to hang out. Can you answer me this, how can our generation learn from people who have done a poor job with running the world, and our country already? How can we learn from a generation so obsessed with money, they would bring down our country economy to get it? How can we learn from a bunch of Berny Madoffs’ or Dick Cheney’s? How could they possibly give us education from what they know, when what they know is failing our world? Tell me how a teacher with a major in math is teaching English? Or why a sports or science teacher is teaching nothing that has to do with the subject of sports? Parents we are mad because we go to schools where hundred year old methods don’t work on our year 2000 brains. It’s hard to go to a class or teaching methods that are not capable of teaching us. We are bored, how can we benefit from inefficient lessons.
Our life has been so dictated by older generations that we have grown an irritation, and a lack of ambition. In classrooms teach to us, show some hands on activities, make the classroom a place we want to be. Stop treating us like we are idiots, because whether you acknowledge it or not this generation is smarter than the last, and all others before it. Happiness isn’t in us anymore, neither is compassion, sympathy, and the ability to forgive. All these traits are gone because it feels like we don’t see them in this world anymore. Love surely isn’t with th fact that everyone is separating, and divorcing.
Let us be us, try and include us, don’t expel us. Keep this in you minds, and consider this, who will take care of you when you, the parents, are so old you can’t support yourself. Who will grab the rains of this ride when you leave the ride. Remember teach us the right way, because we are all you have, and how do you think we would run this world with insufficient schools, and lesson plans.
