It’s Not Just the Condom!

An article giving a perspective on the emotional aswell as sexual connection between teenagers and the influence of modern advertisements.

There are few adverts that advertise the correct use of condoms. The adverts usually show youngsters having sexual intercourse whilst under the influence of alcohol, instead of showing teenagers in a more emotional state of mind, these adverts could provoke teenagers to take part in sexual activities whilst at parties because of the images displayed on the adverts.

Modern sexual safety advertising should try to influence teenagers to be more intimate and mature with each other than to just have a quick fling with anyone. The condom adverts should at least try to separate sex being linked with parties to make sure teenagers are ready for sex. The advertisements maybe only trying to lower young pregnancy rates and to stop sexually transmitted infections but maybe increasing the chances of teenagers having sex under the influence where not much thought is put into the process at the time increasing the chance of a condom not being used.
