The Human Need for Acceptance
Talks about why people do what they do to get noticed. Tells about teenagers needing attention.
Surfing the web, you may see many girls and even guys sometimes posing or wearing clothing that shows a little too much. They catch your eye for a few seconds. You may turn your head or click on another link. But some, as they intended, stare and even comment on the graphics. This is what they want.
We as human beings have many needs. One of which is to be accepted. We have to have people like us, and we feed off of compliments. Even people who say they don’t care about what people think of them, they do. We all love to hear how nice our hair looks and how pretty or handsome we are. It’s only natural.
I find it sad though, how far some people will go to get that attention. Mostly young girls struggling with peer pressure while trying to find their way in life. They want positive feedback, but that’s not what they are getting. In that process, they may be boosting their esteem temporarily, but their self respect is decaying and in truth, they will begin to hate themselves in the long run.
Like I stated in a previous blog, we are put on this earth to grow and find a mate to reproduce with. Many people want to feel attractive, popular, wanted, needed even. They have a desire to find someone to be with. Someone to give them attention and to love them. Not caring who it is, just knowing they are mot alone is enough. It’s surprising what a person will go through just so they don’t have to go to bed alone.
Many young people, who don’t get enough encouragement and love at home, go out to seek it else where, ending up as druggies and prostitutes living in an earthly hell. No esteem, no life, just pain and fear. That is why I suggest parents give their children lots of attention. Encourage them. Show your love by being involve in their lives. Compliment them, Tell them they’re smart. That they’re beautiful. If you don’t they’ll find someone who will.
The internet is a scary place. People seeking attention will find it. There are a lot of sick people who roam the web, seeking whom they can devour, if I may say. Child predators know what an insecure fifteen year old girl wants to hear. They know they want to know that they are doing well and making something of themselves by being pretty and “showing what they got”. even young males are in need of such attention. These situations can end up in rape, torture, and even death.
People don’t have to dress all, with lake of a better term, “slutty”, to get positive feedback on themselves. God loves everyone and wants them to be around good people who are respectful and who will care for them. People who like seeing most of them and complimenting certain features, don’t really care about that person. They wouldn’t even have talked to them if you hadn’t have gotten their attention. People usually get hurt in situations like that. People need to learn respect for themselves. Who’s gonna teach them?
