Now I get these people calling me emo all the time. And I thought I’d write this article to refresh your memories on the definition of emo.

The word emo generally refers to a style of person that is self-harmful and likes to look “suicidal’”. They like to make themselves appeal to others in this way and they generally cut themselves to show pain and to draw attention to themselves. Emos also usually don’t eat much and are usually very skinny. They also most commonly have many piercings in various areas, such as on the lips, septum, the top of the ear, monroes (upper lips), and their bridge.

However, this is not what the word emo is meant to be used for.

The word emo actually refers to a genre of music. Emo music is usually acoustic and screamo, but is often put into a range of other genres as well.

Which brings me to my point. People that cut themselves aren’t emo; they’re pathetic people with “mental” problems. These people do this because they crave attention.
