Why Should Teenagers Compare Themselves Only with Their Friends
Some teenagers compare themselves with celebrity stars, should they do that?
Read and find out!
People who are between 13-18 years old are generally called teenagers. Some of those people often want to be “cool” so they compare themselves with celebrity stars. The negative side to this is that not all celebrity stars are good role models and may lead teenagers to do bad things. The positive side to all this is that now teenagers can learn from them about how to become a star.
People who compare themselves with their friends are “realistic” people because their friends are most likely the same age as them and have a lot to compare with. You can tell the difference when you say you are fifteen years old and you compare with a friend who has just turned sixteen and when you are fifteen and comparing themselves with a thirty-year-old adult. It’s just not right. You and the sixteen year old can compare their science test scores or who know more words or who knows more countries but when you compare with a thirty year old, you will struggle to think of things to compare.
Teenagers who compare themselves with celebrity stars say that they watch how they do things so the teenagers can learn from them. For example, a teenager who wanted to be a footballer and he watched the way Chris Judd played, he can look at the way Chris Judd uses the football and learn the skills Chris Judd possesses.
Now, teenagers who compare themselves with celebrity stars would be satisfied with that argument but there are a few holes in the argument above. Firstly, Chris Judd is not perfect so he does have bad habit, so if you keep watching him, you will try to learn everything he does which includes bad habits. Secondly, celebrity stars do things that are “adults only” and are not suitable for teenagers to see.
Finally, I agree with the teenagers who compare with their friends because of the streams of argument that side has.
