The Kimono

The kimono is a japanese robe that kids, women, and men wear. Kimonos originated in japan. Their worn at festivals, parties, and special events. Kimonos are often made from silk fabrics. Kimonos are often have pictures of cultural things such as, flowers or animals. These pictures often give a spiritual filling to a person. Kimono sleeves are longer then the person’s arms. There are major differences between male and female kimonos. Take a look at the two kimono pictures below and you can see the differences in male and female kimonos.
As you can see a male kimono lacks a bow. Male kimonos have dark colors usually. You can also notice the cultural japanese dragon is on this kimono. Male kimonos look simpler and plainer than female kimonos they usually have dark colors such as blue, green, brown, black, or dark green while, some have bright colors like red or yellow. Male kimonos also sometimes are given a ninja look to give a classic look.


When copared with a male kimono you will notice the female one has a bow. It is also much more colorful and has brighter colors. The female kimono also usual has a bright flower pattern. Female kimonos are usually pink, red, yellow, orange, or a varation of rainbow colors. Females also has a more of a dress like look.

These shoes are called Getas these are usually worn with kimonos. They have two teeth like bottles. They are plain and simple and have a strap. They are made out of all different fabrics such as straw and wood.
