Car Seat Safety: Check The Ratings
Basic guide on how to select car seats.
Car seats literally carry our most important cargo, our kids. So it would be natural to know which car seat are the best and safest to use for our kids. There are a lot of sites that can give one an idea of what car seat to buy, especially based on their safety ratings. I share some of these websites here.
One of the best sites to determine car seat safety is the website of the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHSTA). They provide a lot of information on car seat safety, and also have comparisons on car seat safety features. A visit to the section dedicated to child passengers can really help in deciding which car seat is right for you.
Another website to visit is consumer reports. Consumer reports really does proper research on reviews and ratings submitted on car seats. If you visit this site they can give you real, unbiased opinions on which car seat is the best, and which car seat is not so good. Their studies are based on multiple reviews not just one, and their comparisons of different car seats can really provide you with much needed information.
Car safety.org is another site to visit. It provides a plethora of guides, tips on car safety including car seats, their proper use, and a host of other car safety tips not limited to car seats.
Finally, of course you need a car to need a car seat. What type of car you have is a big factor in car seat selection because car seats come in all types and sizes, and some car seats may not even fit into the rear seat of your car.
Hopefully these tips and sites can help you take care of your most precious cargo. Never scrimp on a car seat as a good car seat means that you are confident that your children are strapped in safely every time you drive out your car.
