Speed Control Techniques Used with Success

Speed Control Techniques Used with Success

With the use of radar and patrol cars, speed is still a huge factor on the highways and secondary roads too.

Some streets are still a big problem for speeders.  Some Canadian streets are now promoting a safer speed that the driver himself puts the brakes on,  that slows them down and very effectively too.

This technique is not a camera, a patrol car or a sign that states a slow speed is required.  The art form has been dumped onto the streets to depict a look of gravel or even a pothole where drivers need to slow down to avoid.  When the automobile is finally nearly to the object, the speed is at a slower pace and it is then the truth is known.  This piece of art is often moved from one street to another so the motorists do not get used to a false object and not again,  slow down.

Speculation also has been introduced with concern when people swerve to avoid such obstacles as these road art forms in the lanes they are traveling.

I love it. Whatever works. We’re towing inoperable cruisers to “hot” intersections and placing a dummy officer at the wheel. It only works for a day or two so it has to be moved from time to time. There’s no excuse to speed through residential neighborhoods. Young women are the worst offenders and I understand why. They have to get kids ready for school, husbands ready for work, themselves ready for the day. Oops, they’re running late.

Interesting way to slow down speeders I must say.

Quite clever the gravel and all. Nice share, Roberta.

A clever idea, though it could be dangerous if a driver has to swerve, thinking there is something there. A good post.

Interesting idea! Have to agree with Christine that the “swerve factor” could be a problem. I know around here, they have taken to putting speed bumps in many residential areas.
