The Electric Future (230 Mpg Car)

The Electric Future (230 Mpg Car)

How much does it cost?
How does it work?
Who makes it?
What’s it called?
When does it come out?

Made by GM (General Motors) coming from Detroit MI rolls out the new electric car… the Chevy Volt. Although it could range 10 to 15 thousand more dollars than Nissans all electric Leaf and Hondas gas electric Hybrid its estimated 230MPG (Miles Per Gallon). That’s 120 miles less than the Leaf (which has 320MPG). How it works? Not like most electric cars the Volt runs on electric power for the first 40 miles. Then a small gasoline engine takes over, recharging it to give it a range of more than 300 miles. GM says to recharge battery with a regular outlet every night just like you would a cell phone or I-pod. The Volt is probably not going to become big for another 20 or even 30 years yet, so GM isn’t expecting to make much money off of it at any time soon. GM is supposed to have a little over 60 thousand units by 2013. The Volt should come out by the end of 2009. So no worries, it could be here soon.
