Hasbro received a design patent for “”an ornamental design for a toy animal”".

The patent (U.S. #D269986) was filed in August of 1981 and granted in August of 1983. The inventors were Bonnie D. Zacherle of Norwood, MA, Charles Muenchinger of Providence, RI, and Steven D. D’Aguanno of Greenville, RI

 The 1983 when they first came out. By Hasbro Company. This is when rainbow ponies came about along with the sea ponies. They became the Number #1 miniature doll in 1984.

 In 1985 the ponies came all dress up with clothes called Pony wear.

 In 1986 three new series of ponies came out called Flutter ponies: these ponies have wings, Beddy Bye eyes ponies (which are ponies where the eyes open and closes) and third is Twinkle eye ponies that sparkle and shine

 In 1987 Hasbro came out with Soft sleepy newborn ponies with pacifier and brush and some had bonnets.

 In1989 the ponies went glamorous with another series of three new ponies: Candy scented ponies,Perfume scented ponies and Dancing ponies to bring the creativity with it young people. The ponies really danced.

Now in the 1990’s Hasbro introduced two new looks to capture the children’s attentions. The elegant winged dream beauties and rainbow dream beauties with Petite ponies that have keys on there feet to unlock the world of magic.

 In 2003 they came out with Ponies play set Celebration castle .

 In 2004 Hasbro came out to enchant the girls even more introducing Twinkle Twirl dance studio and So Soft baby ponies . How could any girl between ages of 4 to 8 resist these ponies.

In year 2005 Hasbro finally introduced Tropical ponies and Island fashions, Butterfly Island play set.The Little Pony brand partnered with kids Toon films. This made the ponies come to life on the screen and little girls watch matinee performances in selected theaters.

In the year 2006 came out with a new theme Chrystal Princess and Chrystal Rainbow Castle and finallyDVD’s came out for the Little Ponies: My Little Pony Live: The World biggest Tea Party for all girls to enjoy and share with their friends and there ponies.

 In the year 2007 they reach 18 million books sold across the United States. Then they launched little miniatures ponies and play set and So-Soft on new look for New Borns.

 Even in 2008 they Little Ponies are still going strong with many collectors from youngest girls even to us older ladies in 30’s and 40 year old who are having just as much collecting and swapping them as their children. I do not see these going out production any time soon.
