Fun and Inexpensive Craft Ideas
Looking for a new fun hobby or just something to do with your child? Take a look at some of these cool ideas.
Crafts don’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time to be enjoyable. There is a craft for everyone, regardless of your age or gender. Just because you may have done crafts as a kid, doesn’t mean you can’t do some as an adult (although, I wouldn’t recommend giving anyone a macaroni necklace as a gift if your over 18).
I’ve been doing crafts since I was very little, and I’ve found that I enjoy doing a whole slew of different crafts but I think Origami would have to be my ultimate favorite. Most people I talk to say that origami is too expensive and hard, however, I use printer paper and besides, there are thousands of easy models to make. My Boyfriend is the least creative or ‘crafty’ individual I know and I was just as surprised as he was when he made the most amazing origami octahedron; made from 12 pieces of paper (it only takes one piece of printer paper if you cut it).
I stumbled across a cool craft while searching how to do an origami matchbox. What they did was they took an old matchbox, emptied it out, and decorated the outside. Seems simple enough, right? Most of the pictures I saw of their matchboxes were just decorated with gift wrap and ribbons in a simple way. They were beautiful, personal and very creative. You could store money, jewelry or even make a daily pill box out of it if you want to have a fun solution to a boring routine. The ideas are endless and this is a great craft to do with your kids (so long as they don’t get a hold of the matches). Anyone can do this and the cost of a matchbox usually runs under 2 dollars.
One of my favorite crafts as a child was to make a collage out of old photos and drawings. You can make a collage on just about anything, like your notebook, diary or even your bedroom door. This is another cool craft to do with your child or teenager, so long as they don’t glue pictures to everything in the house. You can use tape if you want to be able to remove the collage later. One example is to let your child or teenager pick out about 20 pictures and maybe draw a few and cut them out together, then taking turns posting them on their door in a creative pattern.
There are even crafts that use recycled materials. You could recycle your old jeans to make a cool skirt or use the back pockets to make a little purse. Even old cds can be recycled to make Christmas ornaments. Old light bulbs can be decorated for just about any holiday and hung above a window or maybe as another addition to the Christmas tree.
It doesn’t matter whether you are a barely creative person or the most creative person you know. There are many kinds of crafts and in my opinion, there’s a crafts for everyone. There are many inexpensive crafts to have fun with. Don’t forget that doing things with your child will reward both them and you with smiles and laughter. Personally I find the most laughter in crafts, mostly when I make a stupid mistake. If you haven’t found a craft you like yet, keep looking and I bet you’ll find something quite enjoyable.

Inexpensive crafts are the best. The most important thing is the creativity and satisfaction.
