How to Make a Hovercraft

Wouldn’t you love to just float in air? Or just hover in air?

This informative composition will tell you all you need to know about hovercrafts and how to build one yourself right at home!

First of all, there are three valuable key facts you need to know about constructing a hovercraft. The first is your equipment, the equipment you will need is one hand saw, a tube, one piece of plywood it’s your choice hoe big, some silicon, one shower curtain, or a big sheet of really strong plastic, one pair of scissors or an exactor knife, one hand drill, a glue gun, one 3” inch long bolt with two metal dividers, one roll of duct tape, one inner tube, one staple gun, some pencils and pens, and your last and most important thing you will need is an engine to use that will create enough pressured air like an industrial fan, leaf blower, or a shop vacuum.

Your second important key fact, knowing how to apply the right physics to your hovercraft and your background knowledge. If you haven’t learned anything about physics or don’t intend to, your hovercraft will probably not fly it will blow uneven air, bounce of the ground, and maybe even break.

Now for your third important key fact you will actually need to know how to build your hovercraft, so your procedure.

  1. You take your square sheet of ply-wood and clamp it on to a work bench.
  2. Then drill one hole directly in the centre of your sheet of ply-wood.
  3. Now to cut the circle first take a piece of string and make it what size you want the circle to be then tie the ends of the string to the pencils.
  4. Next put one of the pencils in the hole and trace a perfect circle.
  5. Now that you have the perfect traced circle we can now cut it out with the hand saw or band saw if you have one.
  6. Now sand the top of the circle so you won’t get wooden chips in your but when you sit on it.
  7. Now it’s time to assemble the tube. Pump up your tube the tube should be bigger than the circle of ply-wood you just made.
  8. Next we put the circle ply-wood onto the tube and put silicon around the edges of the tube and the wood so no air will escape. (ALSO A LITTLE HINT NEVER GET SILICON ON YOUR HANDS ITS REALLY HARD TO GET OF)
  9. To make sure that the silicon is sealed you should put on 50- 100 pounds of weight so it can dry better and there will be no air bubbles.
  10.  Now let the silicon dry for three days and don’t touch it at all!
  11. After the three days put on hot glue on top of the silicon so the silicon will be ensured.
  12. After waiting another day for the hot glue to dry take your leaf blower and trace the width of the pipe onto the hovercraft 1 inch from the edge.
  13. Now drill a hole in the traced area big enough so you can put your hand saw in and cut the hole out.
  14. Now shove the leaf blower pipe in to the hole and wrap duct tape around the pipe so no air would escape and so the pipe won’t come out.
  15. Now put the plastic and wrap it around the whole hovercraft and make it really tight then staple the plastic on to the ply-wood.
  16. Now put the bolt the you bought and stick it through the hole that you cut then put it straight through the plastic and bolt it up so the inside of it looks like a cone shape inside.
  17. Now trace 5 small circles inside, you could use bowls to trace it. Then cut it out after there all traced.
  18. Now your finish and ready to hover have fun!!!!!!
