The Easiest Way to Craft Pumpkin for Halloween
Here’s an easy step-by-step tutorial to guide you on how to easily craft your pumpkin for Halloween.

Every night of the 31 October, Halloween (an abbreviation for “All Hallows’ Even”) is celebrated in some Western countries, particularly in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, and nowadays, Halloween also gains popularity in other regions such as China, Korea, Germany, Spain and Japan due to the influence of American pop culture, while in Australia and New Zealand, Halloween has gained little recognition. In Sweden, the holiday begins on the first Saturday of November. Trick-or-treating, ghost tours, costume parties, carving Jack-o’-lanterns, watching scary movies, visiting “haunted houses”, bonfires and reading horror stories are some of the common activities held during the time of Halloween (quoted from my previous article entitled Facts you never knew about Halloween).
Here’s an easy step-by-step tutorial to guide you on how to easily craft your pumpkin for Halloween.

Things You Need

Step 1

Prepare a piece of square paper. You can use any size of square paper that you desire to make a paper pumpkin, but make sure that it should be in orange color.
Step 2

Fold the paper in half.
Step 3

Fold the paper in half again.
Step 4

Open up the paper. You should now have two lines dividing the paper, giving you four squares.
Step 5

Fold the paper diagonally both ways.
Step 6

Turn the paper. Fold the paper diagonally again.
Step 7

Open up the paper. Face the colored side of the paper up towards you.
Step 8

Press gently and collapse the folded paper as shown in the last photograph.
Step 9

Lift the lower left flap upwards. Repeat the same for the other side. Then, turn the paper backward, repeat the steps as shown in the first and second photographs, and the final result should look like the third photograph.
Step 10

Bring both left corners of the paper to the center to make a crease. Repeat the same for the other side.
Step 11

From step 10, flatten both corners of the paper. Now, fold the left side to the middle line of the paper. Do the same for the other side.
Step 12

From step 11, turn the paper backward. Repeat step 11 for both corner parts folding.
Step 13

Fold the lower left flap as marked by the left red line accordingly.
Step 14

Open up the paper as shown in the photo. Now, fold the lower left flap upward and fold again another small triangular shape, but this time fold it inward. Glue it. Repeat step 13 to bring the right flap upward. Next, do according to steps as shown in the first, second, third and forth photos for the other side. You should get the end product as shown in the last photo.
Step 15

Turn the paper backward. Repeat steps 13-14. Your paper should appear in this manner.
Step 16

Bring the middle part of the paper to the left so that the plain side is facing you.
Step 17

Now, start drawing your desired pumpkin face on the plain side.
Alternatively, you may also use any pumpkin face designed by me as shown below.

Step 18

Blow on top of the paper (as marked by a red line) to expand the paper as shown in the photo.
Step 19

Turn your paper pumpkin downward. Gently press the sides of the paper inward so that your paper pumpkin can stand firmly on the flat surface.
Step 20

Use a ruler to measure a 4-cm-long green string. Carefully cut it with a knife.
Step 21

Now, tear off a tiny part of the string from one single rough string, about 8-cm-long.
Step 22

From step 21, roll the string over a chopstick. Make as many roll as you can.
Step 23

From step 22, roll the tiny string over the rough string you obtained from step 20. Apply a strong glue to hold them tight.
Step 24

In this step, you’re going to make the leaves for the paper pumpkin. Fold the paper in half. You can use any paper, but make sure that it should be green in color. Next, draw the leaf. Cut it carefully with a pair of scissors.
Step 25

From step 24, apply strong glue to the “stems” (you made in step 23) and the leaves you created in step 24 into the hole that you blew in step 18.
Step 26

Congrats! You’ve just crafted one beautiful paper pumpkin. Voila! Look carefully! It’s really a pumpkin guy..hehehe..he is coming!
