Hallucinogenic Drugs

Hallucinogenic Drugs

A hallucinogenic drug is a drug that alters a person’s perception of reality and may cause hallucinations and other alteration of the senses.

Some of the images seen from these hallucinations can be from the past or imaginary images of unnecessary things. These images are called “trips”. You could have a “normal trip” which means you visualize regular images, or you could have a “bad trip”. A “bad trip” can lead you to see monsters or unpleasant images.

Some drugs in the hallucinogenic group include: magic mushrooms, mescaline, PCP (phencyclidine), cannabis (in high quantities), MDA (methylenedioxyamphetamie), and ecstasy. Another word for hallucinogens is LSD. The scientific name for LSD is lysergic acid diethylamide. These drugs can be taken in a variety of forms, including liquid, tablets, or capsules. You could also inject the drug with a needle. The most often way of taking LSD is to put a piece of paper folded into a square and it is put under the tongue.

By taking hallucinogens, you can receive dangerous physical, emotional, mental, short-term, and long-term effects. Depending on the properties, dosage, and potency of the drug, the personality and mood of the drug taker, and the environment, the drug effects will vary. Visually, perception of light and space is altered, and colors and detail take on increased significance. Also you will have an increase heart rate, increased blood pressure, and dilated pupils. Physical effects include disorders of thought associated with time and space.

Some of the experiences may be either pleasurable or extremely frightening. You will most likely have a feeling of emptiness inside you. For many people who take drugs, the separation between self and environment disappears, leading to a sense of oneness or holiness. If the drug is misused, or abused, the drug taker can experience long term or shot term effects.

Examples of some short term effects are: experiencing bright colors and sharp sounds, you could confuse your senses, minutes will feel like hours, you will have a changed body image (you could feel like you are floating), dilated pupils, rapid heart rate and increased blood pressure, nausea, paranoia and confusion, or you could feel strong feelings of anxiety or fear. Long term effects of hallucinogenic drugs include have flashbacks daily, weekly, or monthly.

You may think from hearing all these horrible things, that hallucinogenic drugs are very dangerous. But in some cultures, hallucinogenic drugs are used. For example, the Hindus and the Aztecs used them to facilitate meditation, cure illness, and enhance mystical powers. Many North American tribal peoples still use hallucinogenic mushrooms and peyote in tribal rituals. These drugs can also be very useful, but are mostly very dangerous.

The hallucinogenic groups of drugs have different names. Some of the street names are: “A”, Acid, Adams, Buttons The Beast, Blotter, Blue Chairs, Blue Cheers, Blue Mist, Brown Dot, California Triple Dip, Cube, Dot, Flat Blues, Gelatin, Green Wedge, Hawk, LSD, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, M and M’s, Mescal, Microdot, Mighty Quinn, Mind Detergent, Owsley Acid, Owsley Blue Dot, Pearly Gates, Pink Wedge, Pink Owsley, Purple Owsley, Sandoz’s, Strawberries, Sugar Cube, Sunshine, Uncle, Vacation, Wedding Bells, or Window Panes.

Each street name has its own characteristic for different types of hallucinogenic drugs. Also, each drug has its own characteristic, and some of the drugs are meant for certain people. But the main people who are taking these drugs are males who are the age of 18 or older. These people must have tried them at a young age and probably had gotten addicted. They could have felt happy because of the images in the hallucinations they have had, or they just couldn’t stop taking these drugs. These hallucinogenic drugs are very dangerous and should not be taken unless they are prescribed by a doctor or they are used for ceremonial reason. They should not be taken daily because of the risks, such as loosing thought, or having flashbacks.

Our group has put in a lot of thought and we know that this drug should not be used, abused, or misused. These drugs show not be taken for granted and should only be used for tribal rituals or medication. The risk is too high, and we believe no one should take that risk and have long-term effects mentally, emotionally, and physically. That is our report on Hallucinogenic Drugs.

its actually an experience and as cliche as it sounds it is mind expanding, you become someone different during and after an experience with LSD and most of the time the change is positive those I must say that if you have a family history of mental illness then LSD can be a catalyst but try before you say no

You did some decent work describing the effects, but the conclusion is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone doing more than an eyedropper’s worth of research on the subject (that means more than just FreeVibe and DEA.gov) knows that the hallucinogens are anything but addictive, both physically and psychologically (I don’t know of anyone who’s ever wanted to take LSD more than once every few months). As far as being dangerous – physically, nausea and dry-mouth is as bad as it gets. Obviously you shouldn’t drive or operate machinery on them, just like you shouldn’t do that when you’ve been drinking, or when you’re low on sleep, or in a bad mood. And psychologically? Going through a breakup can do more to you emotionally than shrooms ever can, but I don’t see anyone telling you to stay away from love. Try before you hate.

I think you all are quit wrong, but I guess I have to ask first how many of you have done it. I suspect the answer in none, so I will go on from there. LSD to me is something that can\’t be lied to nor can it can\’t be mislead. I have never had a bad trip because I hide nor hold anything back. If you are a person with a lot to hide from the world then don\’t try it because your guilt with rip its way out of you. But if you don\’t keep things from you family, friends, neighbors, your job, or yourself them get ready for some out of this universe experiences, Just don\’t lie to it.

Bottom line is, don’t take an hallucinogen unless you’re VERY prepared for what you’re getting yourself into. It’s common medical knowledge that tryptame based hallucinogens such as LSD are not addictive. The DEA’s own anti-drug website says as much.

And no, ecstasy isn’t an hallucinogen. Like MDA it’s an empathogen. Things will look and feel rather weird when on the drug but you won’t actually hallucinate when on it.

Similarly PCP is disassociative anesthetic and is in the same class as ketamine and DXM(the active ingredient in OTC cough medicine). PCP was originally used in vetrinary hospitals but was replaced by ketamine. Both drugs, rather than being “mind expending” actually disconect your mind from your body and its surrounding. Though both will make you hallucinate.
