How to Stop From Throwing Up When You are Drunk

We have all been there at some point. It’s the worst. Here’s what I do to keep from hurling when I have hit that point.

Close one eye. Your vision has doubled up because your eyes are starting to cross/lose focus. It makes it worse for your brain and your sense of balance, which causes your stomach to feel worse. Close one of your eyes…it helps.

Don’t lay down. Stand or sit up, laying down seems to trigger your inner-ears to enter the Bill O’reilly “Spin Zone”. Keep your head still and erect, don’t jostle those inner-ear fluids. Stay still if you can.

Go outside. Fresh air helps a bunch. Cool, fresh air. Breathe deep and take in the fresh air.

Start controlling your breathing. Breathe in and out slowly and controlled. Concentrate on your breathing. This keeps your diaphragm in a rhythm and distracts your mind from the unhappy “spins.” Last thing you need is your diaphragm wanting to clench or spasm, or to start focusing on how crappy you feel.

Make sure you stay in a well lit environment. Keep the lights on. Don’t stare at a TV in a dark room. Dark rooms, blinking lights, and all that can tip you over the edge because your brain loses points of reference and starts to confuse your inner-ear.

Eat bread. If your stomach can handle it, eat a bit of bread to absorb some of the booze and stomach acid in your belly. No sauces or butter. Nibble some white spongy bread.

Stay away from cigarettes. Often a cigarette will push you over the edge… you can be fine and then smoke and suddenly be spinning/throwing up. Don’t smoke if there is any doubt that you might have had too much alcohol.

Drink room-temperature water. Not cold, not hot…Room temperature. Drink a glass every half hour or so if your stomach can handle it. Sip it if you need to. This begins the flush-out process and will help to rehydrate you and calm some of the stomach irritation. If you can keep drinking water it will also help out your hangover the next day.

Stay away from coffee. If you are only drunk it can help but if you’ve hit the point where you think you might purge, stay away. Coffee dehydrates you and irritates your stomach. You don’t need that.

Stay away from sugars. Don’t drink sodas or eat any candy while you are drinking. The sugars from the alcohol are already WREAKING HAVOC with your metabolism. You don’t need any more sugar in your body to make your stomach unsettled or make your body “on-edge.”

And that’s how to stop from throwing up when you’ve had too much to drink.

‘Throwing up’ is the human bodies way of telling you that you have just passed uncontrollable lunacy and passed the point of no return and the poison wants out!….just throw up, drink teped water and rest, next time dont prepare, just have some grey matter and use it!.
