Marijuana and Why It is Illegal
I decided to write about why marijuana is illegal, because I don’t understand why it is such a big deal.
Marijuana has not always been illegal. It did not become illegal until the 1970s. The reason it is illegal now is because it is perceived as addicting “a high potential for abuse.” Too many people got addicted and became “potheads.” Many people get addicted to alcohol, why is it still legal? They use marijuana for cancer patients. Why should it be legal for them. So many people use it. A lot of people grow it. Why not legalize it? If you are old enough to smoke and drink. Why can’t you buy it at a drug store or where they sell tobacco? People have used marijuana when they get stressed or depressed to get happy. Marijuana does not do any of that and most people don’t want to move when they are high, they usually just wan to eat. At least one-third of Americans use the drug mainly by smoking it. The street names for it are pot, herb, weed, grass, widow, boom, ganja, hash, Mary Jane, cannabis, bubble gum, northern lights, fruity juice, gangster, afghani #1, skunk and chronic. It is a mixture of dried flowers, leaves, and stems from the hemp plant. The main active ingredient in marijuana is THC (delta 9 tetrhydrocannabinol). There are many ways to smoke pot and they are pipe(bowl), water bong, joints, and blunts. Yes, it can cause euphoria, hallucinations, and paranoia. It wont kill you and I’m sure a lot of you may have tried it, if not thats fine too. If you did not like it, okay so you didn’t like it. It does have both short term and long term effects. I know a lot of you think I’m a pothead just for posting this, ohwell. If you would like to know where I got some of my information form this is where http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/marijuana.htm .

Marijuana is illegal because of the amount of money, time and work it would take for it to be legalized and it is a complete waste of time. Liberal crap like legalization of marijuana is wasting too much time. We are in the middle of an economic crisis and marijuana is a stupid thing to focus on at this time. I have children and I do not want them smoking marijuana. The governement would tax (like alcohol) the hell out of it and control it. Also, the government’s regulation of marijuana would take time and focus away from real problems like programs for substance abuse centers for already controlled substances like alcohol and illegal substances like marijuana, cocaine and heroin. Alcohol is only legal because the government makes a killing from the taxes … especially, the new “sin taxes” which are put on cigarettes and alcohol. Instead of giving the gvt more responsibilities, how about we take our freedom back?

First off, it was made illegal in the 30’s and second it’s as addictive as caffeine.

ok well first this is wrong. as he said ^.
Secondly, your entire writing contradicts itself multiple times. The funny thing is your one source of information where you read some anti-marijuana propaganda. You’ve got it all wrong my friend. Though I’m still thrown off. I feel like you were for marijuana legalization at the beginning… then you spewed out a bunch of wrong anit-pot garbage. You are completely uneducated in the field of marijuana and I suggest that you enlighten yourself. Marijuana has extremely high medicinal value. There are completely healthy and safe ways of using pot. You can eat it, after cooking it. You can vaporize it so only the THC is released. No smoke, just vapor. The smoke itself, is not even that harmful. Compared to cigarettes, marijuana has a much less harsh smoke. There has never been one case of cancer that was caused by marijuana. Not one. Look for it. In fact, there are studies that show marijuana can decrease cancerous tumor growth. There have been doctors and normal people around the world that prescribe marijuana, and are committed to the wonders it can do medicinally. I have seen it happen with my own two eyes. So you should see it with yours. Stop reading biased anti-pot propaganda and open your eyes.
