Applebees
I ate out there a while back, and decided to write up on it.
Upon entry to Applebee’s, Located just off Knapp Road in Montgomery Ville, we were seated without a wait. Our waitress, shy as she may have been, introduced herself and took our drink orders, only to return them within the next three minutes. The first problem arose when one of the drinks delivered was incorrect. Our waitress exchanged them quickly. As we waited, I took a chance to examine the walls. The decoration was a mix of pictures and objects that, while interesting to look at, felt a bit overwhelming.
The table shared an appetizer sampler (12.49), and was thoroughly disappointed. The plate was comprised of Buffalo Wings, the sauce of which burned our lips and left a bitter aftertaste, mozzarella sticks with chewy cheese, and flavorless tortilla chips and avocado dip. The mini chicken quesadillas were a pleasant surprise from the rest of the sampler. They were delicious, and we were surprised to realize, that they were also stuffed with bacon, which, though a tag unorthodox for a chicken quesadilla, was a good mix, and made for a very interesting flavor.
When our meals arrived in a flurry of waiters and waitresses, we were of mixed opinions. The Oriental Salad (8.99) was flavorful, but full of limp lettuce and soggy croutons, as if the salad dressing had been poured on a long time ago. The Mini Burger Sliders (8.99) proved to be a problem, due to cheese that the menu had failed to mention. For the size of the burger, nearly half of the sandwich was onions. The smell permeated the area around our table, and irritated many of us. The Chicken Finger Platter (9.99) was delicious, as well as hot, almost too hot. The chicken burned going down but was tasty and flavorful, nonetheless. The Fire Pit Bacon Burger (9.49) was a wonderful mix or traditional cheeseburger and experimental flair. When it arrived, though, the bacon was missing in action. When asked about it, the waitress replied, “Well, the cook is new, he probably doesn’t know…” I personally would appreciate the cooks having sufficient training before
Despite that, the waitress brought out a small plate of bacon to put atop the burger. The only other problem that arose was when we went to pay. Our waitress brought out the check, and plopped down into the booth beside us. She went on to explain why we would be paying the check for the people behind us, as apposed to our own. Apparently, they got our check somehow, and paid for that instead. How that happened, exactly, I have yet to figure out.
Despite the little road bumps that always tend to occur when ever anyone ever goes out to eat, I would still recommend the restaurant, even with it’s two out of four stars. The food was delicious, and the waiters were friendly, making the restaurant seem like a very family oriented place.
