Bizarre and Amazing Chocolate Concoctions
Chocolate is delicious – maybe a little too delicious. From chocolate bacon to chocolate beer, the candy has been combined with everything under the sun.
The melty goodness of chocolate. Who doesn’t love it? Move over, Hershey’s, though: These seven chocolate confections are much more creative than the standard 12-piece bar.
Chocolate Sushi
The signature dish of Toronto-based catering chef Renee Foote, of Ginger Island Cuisine, is chocolate sushi. Chocolate sushi contains no fish, rice, or wasabi – it is made of Swiss and Belgian chocolate that has been rolled to look like nigiri-zushi. Ginger Island Cuisine boasts a variety of creations, including the bottom-right-pictured “Buddha’s Delight;” a chocolate truffle covered in chocolate ganache, crusted with chocolate wafer crumbs, and inscribed with the Chinese character for longevity.

Chocolate Toothpaste
In 2005, Unilever Philippines marketed a limited edition chocolate flavored fluoride toothpaste. Closeup Flavalicious toothpaste in Choco Loco might not be as strange as it sounds, however: The research of Tulane University doctoral candidate Arman Sadeghpour shows that an extract of cocoa powder protects teeth, and is in fact, more effective than fluoride when it comes to cavity prevention.

Chocolate Libations
It’s true: Samuel Adams partnered with Scharffen Berger Chocolate to develop Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock. The brewers claim that chocolate pairs well with dark beers, and describe Chocolate Bock as “dark, with a big, malty character combined with the subtle sweetness of chocolate.”

Chocolate Bacon
Even chocolate lovers who, as children, dipped their French fries into their Frosties might be surprised to see the combination of sweet and salty represented as a bacon chocolate bar. Or is it a chocolate bacon bar? Either way, Vosges Mo’s treat sells for $7.50; the candy contains a combination of applewood smoked bacon, alder wood smoked salt, and smooth milk chocolate. Breakfast, meet dessert.

Chocolate Brains
Those who have struggled to find anatomically correct chocolate molds need search no longer: Pushin’ Daisies, which calls itself a ‘mortuary novelty shop,’ sells anatomically correct chocolate body parts. The parts are made of solid milk chocolate, and their confections include brains, hearts, and teeth.

Chocolate Kama Sutra
That’s right – someone has taken the time to mold the Kama Sutra onto a chocolate bar. The pictures are, of course, risqué, but the media is delicious.
Bon appetit!
