Bizarre Broccoli, Potty Potatoes, Weird Watermelons
I know we’re all being encouraged to have our “Five a Day” fruit and veggies – but the lengths to which some folks will to make these more appealing to the palate are a little odd to say the least.

Over here in the UK we went through what I considered to be an extremely wasteful phase of needing ‘perfect’ fruit and veg. Bananas weren’t considered ‘cool’ unless they were straight and were a certain length. Potatoes had to be nicely oval and you couldn’t buy a wonky carrot for love nor money!
I was brought up on home grown fruit and veg and basically I had to eat what came out of the ground – from broccoli that leant to the left, curly cucumbers, and parsnips and carrots that, on occasions, made us kids snigger as they were considered extremely rude!
Thankfully we now seem to have seen the light and, through my local Asda store, I can now, once again, relive my childhood and get my hands on knobbly potatoes; crescent-shaped bananas; and carrots and parsnips that look extremely kinky!
But the fruit and veg in the link below bring odd shaped greengrocery to a whole new level!
What worries me is how far this fad will go! What next? Onions that cry? Runner beans with feet? Jalapeno peppers that breathe fire? Maybe even Gooseberries with feathers and can honk???

What are those things? They look a bit like mutant tomatoes! I was really pleased that relaxed those ridiculous rules – so much food was being wasted for no good reason.

I enjoyed seeing those mutant veggies! Now I want to go dig up some of my carrots and see what they look like. Great use of alliteration in your title. I liked your last paragraph. Nice job on this.

Is it tomatoes? They look really weird. It is only naturally to have weird looking vege sometimes. you are very lucky to have home grown organic vegetable for daily consumption.
