Incredible Edibles

Incredible Edibles

Strange things people from around the world eat.

Each country has its own culture and delectables for consumption. I checked to see what some of these include and was a bit surprised at what I found out.

In Vietnam one of the dished they eat are dogs. Usually they eat these furry little cuties in the cold weather. It is said that if you eat dog on a cold day it will keep you warm. It is said that most of the dog meat sold there are pets that others steel. I have heard that dog meat is very gritty and has a distinct smell of wet dog and dog poo. If in the United States and trying to use Fido for dinner I do believe the thieves would be killed themselves as here in the states our dogs are like family member not just pets.

Snake meat is known around the world. From cobra to rattle snake it can be made into a meal.  It is eaten many ways from frying to mixing in a roll. The most prized of the snake is not their flesh but their blood which some drink in wine, bile is also swallowed with great pride, but the best part to be eaten is a snakes heart that is still beating. Incredible, but just to think of this I want to get sick.

Civet cat, monkeys, eagles, lizards, and bear cubs have been used as bush meat. They pickle these creatures in jars alive and then pour liquid over the top of them drowning them quickly to keep their life energy inside the wine. Once they sit for some time then the liquid is taken down. In 2003 people who know better decided not to indulge in these delicacies due to the SARS virus spread.

Toads and frogs also enter this unusual feast with not only their legs but also their guts and the entire carcase. Spiders, ants, and beetles are also among dinner plates. Cats, rats, lizards of all kinds are  also included in this buffet.

It seems that anything can be eaten and some cultures use this to their advantage feasting on what ever moves, walks or crawls. I don’t know about you but if I do ever get to travel the world I will stick to vegetarian. At least I will be aware it is plant matter not something that flew through my house last night looking something like a bat.

We do have strange tastes or maybe we learn to eat what is available. Interesting info.

Interesting! Probably there are some foods eaten in our countries of origin that would be greatly distasteful to some. I guess in tastes and colors there is nothing fixed written as truth.
