Lots of Lovely Things to Eat

Lots of Lovely Things to Eat

A look at some of the less palatable delicacies from around the world.

When i was young my dad used to eat some really strange things, meats like tongue and brains, pigs trotters and brawn, it was probably because his family were very poor when he was young that he developed a taste for food that most of us would turn our nose at. Its not too long ago that Hedgehog  and Squirrel were quite common items on the table of English country folk, so its not surprising that some of the poorer people of the world eat things that we in the west would find unpalatable, OK are you ready? sick bags at the ready!

Fancy going out for some Chinese food , how about a little appetiser first of BEE LARVAE?

If Bee Larvae doesn’t tickle your fancy how about a nice crunchy SCORPION?

Don’t worry the venom is made harmless by cooking. Still feeling peckish before your main? You must be hungry try some fried RAT.

Full of protein and goodness yum yum.

Time to choose a main course, i know, what about some raw MONKEY BRAINS?

Believe or not in some Chinese restaurants they supply special cages to hold the monkey still while the diner eats its brains! Well if  you don’t fancy monkey brains how about a nice GOATS HEAD?

This lovely African delicacy is one of the only foods that looks back at you as you eat it , well that and TUNA EYE!

I don’t know about you but i always enjoy something sweet to round off my meal,.

yes some MOPANE WORMS would go down nicely. or even a nice crunchy Kentucky fried WEEVIL?

So if your feeling pretty full at this point how about rounding your meal off with a nice cup of coffee?

This is KOPI LUAK or Civet Coffee as it is also known, these coffee beans are not harvested until they have been eaten and passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet an animal that lives in the Indonesian Archipelago, gives a new meaning to s*** coffee!

If you don’t like coffee try some warming SNAKE BLOOD

It is easy to recoil in horror at the culinary delicacies on sight here, especially if your a vegetarian, however i should imagine that eating these foods has long been a part of the culture of the countries where these foods are eaten and  they were probably tried initially due to necessity, would i try them? No way, but i did once try these in France Yuk!

I am recoiling and I am a vegetarian! I read somewhere recently that eating insects might be the next big thing, as they are high in protein and don’t give off methane as cattle do.

This has got to be one of the coolest concepts for an article. Love the pics, too! My friend just went to Bali over the summer and had some of the s*** coffee. She said it was tasty. Nummy!

Deeee-licious! Not! I’m sure that some of these probably don’t taste as bad as they appear…not that I’m volunteering!!!

I am so glad I don’t eat meat! Do they eat the monkey brain while the monkey is still alive? That is just disgusting and very wrong if they do. I would rather die.

Im afraid they do lil, cant see the point of it though, the very least they could do is kill the creature first.
