Seasonal Food
Seasonal Food-Essential to modern life or an unnecessary pollution that must be stopped?

For hundreds of years people had to eat and grow food according to the rules of nature and its seasons but in this day and age we can have any food we want at any time. How does this help us and are there any hidden dangers?
Seasonal food is food which is best grown and is harvested at a certain time of the year. In the past this meant that some foods were only available at certain times of the year but now by importing foods from other parts of the world where the climate is different and the times when the food grows change accordingly, we can have assess to any food at any time but at what cost?
Advantages
- All food types are available all year round
- Allows countries to supplement there food supply if they cannot produce enough
- It improves the economies of the countries who grow and sell the food
- Potentially cheaper
Disadvantages
- Must be transported by planes and ships which burn fossil fuel and contribute to the enhanced greenhouse effect
- Weakens food production in the country that imports the food (if it can be imported cheaper from abroad there is no need to fund the food production industry as must)
My View
I feel that in today’s world it is necessary to keep the world working and progressing as it is now. Instead of reducing the emissions released we should devote resources to greener renewable energies which can provide the fuel for the future and in the long run may lead to no harmful emission for food importation or any other industry that produces harmful emissions
