Soup Festival

Soup Festival

Soup Festival held by Johnson County Missouri Democrat Club.

On November 1, 2009, the Johnson County Democrat Club of Warrensburg, Missouri held the first annual Soup Festival to raise money for local candidates.  Above is my grandson, Zach, helping to place condiments on the tables before the start of the festival.

More than twenty home made soups and chili plus a huge sampling of breads and desserts were available for tasting and if you liked what you tasted bowls were available for those who wanted more. Everyone voted for their favorite soups, breads, and desserts. It was a hard decision in most cases. Some people purchased more tickets to place in the voting jars.

People donated several items for a silent auction. Among the great items that were available were two quilts. One a quilt depicting our hero, and president, Barack Obama. The other a cute comedy quilt.

It was a great time held in the Warrensburg Community Center in Grover Park. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. A great chance to meet the local candidates and as well as converse with old friends and meet new people.

While I left stuffed with wonderful food, I could hardly wait for the soup festival next year. Thanks to those who organized this event. You outdid yourselves!Sue
