Astrology and Horoscopes to Rule Your Life?

Astrology and Horoscopes to Rule Your Life?

Some people love to read their horoscopes. Some are so addicted to it that they can’t even start their day without checking out the newspaper or their chosen internet horoscope source first to know how their day will turn out. In fact, probably every published newspaper and entertainment magazine has a horoscope section. Horoscope practically guides the lives of those who believe in such predetermination.

Primarily used in astrology, horoscope is a diagram of the position of the sun, moon, and planets from a given position of the sun, moon, and planets from a given position on Earth at a given moment, especially at one’s birth.  It was constructed based on Ptolemy’s solar system, in which the earth is stationary and the heavenly bodies move around it in fixed patterns.

According to horoscope, people are divided into only 12 zodiac signs.  So it is hard to believe ho it can determine the fate of billions of men and women.  Besides, genetics assures that there can never be two individuals who are exactly alike, not even identical twins.  So how much more can two individuals have the same fate in the course of their entire lives?

Horoscope is an essential tool for astrologers.  Astrology is the study of the effects of the heavenly bodies on the lives of individuals.  It is the predetermination of one’s future by reading the stars and interpreting them through the person’s birth signs.  Astrologers believe that the stars and planets will either give each one of us good or bad luck depending on where they are placed in relation to our birth signs.  This sounds interesting but, unfortunately, hard to believe.

How can the stars influence our lives? No plausible explanation can be given to this question.  Surprisingly, not even astrologers can give an adequate explanation to defend their “science.”

Studies have shown that:

1.  Astrologers trying to deduce someone’s personality from their charts do no better than chance.

2.  Astrologers studying the same chart often come to opposite conclusions.

3.  The birth dates of people with occupations linked to certain signs (e.g. politicians, scientists, and artists) are in fact randomly distributed throughout the zodiac.

4.  Couples with “incompatible” signs get married and divorced at the same rate as “compatible” couples.

The sad fact is that, people who rabidly believe in horoscopes will convince themselves of its effectiveness no matter what.  If you will come to analyze it, people actually do not read their horoscopes to know what is bound to happen to them, but they just seem to just get influenced by what they read from the day’s horoscope for the rest of the day.  In one study of 22 astrology fanatics, half were presented with their real horoscopes and half were presented with fake charts saying the exact opposite.  Both groups said that their horoscopes were 96 to 97 percent accurate.

Ultimately everything works out through our own decisions.  It is up to us if we will rely on the stars for our own future.  But what is more sane and sensible is that nothing and no one really controls our own fate but ourselves.
