Starting on July 24, and going through most of August, the astrology sign of Leo is ruled by the sun. The sultry heat, fun summertime activities, and the abundance of growing things are some of what the sun sign of Leo is about. Leo is a fire sign – full of passion, zest, and drama.

Mostly referred to in a regal sense, Leo is either shown as the king or the queen according to astrology. The universe would simply not be the same without the drama, creativity, generosity, and flamboyant extroversion of Leonine personalities here on planet Earth.

In many ways Leos are like playful kids – they often seem as if they never completely grow up – and why should they?

Other words to describe the characteristics of the lion are consciousness, individuality, activity, vitality, direction, leadership, and objectivity.

As most cats are, Leo is a creature of habit. Astrologers reference this characteristic describing Leo as being a “fixed” sign. The typical Leo doesn’t flex very easily whenever experiencing a change in life routine. Yet the same notion of the word “fix” also means fixing things into a creative form.

Many Leos will be found pursuing careers in the field of fine arts, drama – any creative pursuit that provides an opportunity to shine like the sun.

Usually known as individualistic, the number for Leo is number one. The metal is gold, of which the measurement is the carat, which also signifies the number one. Primary colors in yellows, and reds compliment the extroverted traits of the native Leo.

Fairness and generosity are some other personality traits that astrology attributes to the Leonine personality. These are good traits with which a leader can rule a kingdom.

The solar system only has one sun. Sometimes the ego of the sun sign, Leo, creates the illusion that Leos consider themselves to be number one. Taken to an extreme, this could be looked upon as pompous. Visualize the portrayal of the Lion in the Wizard of Oz who displays this characteristic in an exaggerated way.

When angry and roaring, the Leo is like a blowfish getting all puffed up for the purpose of defense or psychological intimidation. The scary roar is mostly just a defense mechanism rather than a real threat.

As a matter of fact, the dramatic roar could be merely a fiery expression of delight when Leo the Lion finds something fun to do, or when reading some good astrology on a sunny day.
