Everyone is Phased by the Moon Phases

A topic of fascination as old as mankind, the moon and its phases carry a meaningful impact on daily life. Astrology blends the zodiac and moon phases for determining the influence of cosmic energies that affect all earthlings – plant life included.

From the perspective of astrology, the moon and its daily transits are easy to relate to.  All anyone has to do is look into the evening skies.  New moon is not visible, but three other phases are.  Together these four phases are used for standard reference.  Each has a meaningful effect on everyday life.  Specifics enter the picture when the moon phase is pooled with varied qualities of the zodiac signs

Daily astrology changes along with moon phases.

The phases are the result of the movements of the earth, sun, and moon combined.  This is only part of the astrological consideration. The new moon might be called no moon, or at least no visible moon.

At this time, the moon is positioned between the earth and the sun.  As earth natives only ever see one side of the moon, it is not visible when in this position.

The transiting sun combines forces with the earth and the moon while traveling through the signs of the zodiac.  As the moon revolves counter clockwise around the earth it rotates once on its axis.

New moon – sun and the moon are at the same longitude

First quarter – sun and the moon are 90 degrees apart

Full moon – sun and the moon are at a 180-degree angle

Last quarter – sun and moon are at 270 degrees angularity

Because the moon only reflects sunlight, it appears to change its shape during its westward orbit.  During the transition between the new and full moons, we see the eastern facing crescent, with the “horns” pointing east.  At this time, the western part of the moon is illuminated. This is also known as the waxing phase.

After the full moon, the rotation continues until the opposite order reveals the eastern part of the moon.  This is when the moon is considered to be waning.

Astrology and Timing of Events

New moon is a good time to plan a project because this is a period of insemination. As a seed planted in the ground unfurls its embryonic growth, so does the beginning of an activity. Taking action on the plan at this time may run into a sort of inertia due to wrong timing.

Second quarter shows a half moon symbol representing the time to take physical action on the plan. Second quarter energizes the plan from first quarter, bringing it nearer to fruition.

Full moon should see complete fruition.

Last quarter can provide a feeling of satisfaction and a pleasant sort of fatigue. Or, if plans went unfinished, fatigue may be accompanied by restlessness. This is the time to add finishing touches.

The moon and earth are so connected that the two are regarded as a double planet rather than a planet and a satellite. Before Christ, most religions were centered on the moon.  Integral relationships of the phases of the moon correlate with the signs of the zodiac. The fascination is timeless, and so is the significance attributed to the various phases and astrological signs.
