Virgos are instantly likeable in casual social groups.  Radiating a certain humility gives them the ability to blend into a crowd.  Yet, Virgos are known to be perfectionists, and others often shy away from the critical emanations.

Conservative, quiet, and thoughtful, the Virgo is represented as a Virgin – pure and untouched. The alchemical process is distillation – a method of purification.

Virgo rules the sixth house, which is about work and health.  An angular affliction to Virgo is often sited as the basis for becoming a hypochondriac.  The constantly critical vigil as applied to health issues is an integral part of this native.

As modest as this sign is, it gets the spotlight early on during the summer when the Dog Star Sirius enters the picture.  Isis, the representative goddess of Sirius, is equated with Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus.  So Virgo is activated somewhat at the time of the Summer Solstice, and the symbolism remains prominent through approximately August 10.
