Libraries for Fun and Knowledge
We are fortunate to have libraries for so many purposes. We can research any subject, use computers, check out books, video’s, CD’s or just sit in a comfortable chair and read to our heart’s content. It’s a wonderful advantage for all the family and it’s free.

The library is a valuable source of information on practically everything you can imagine. It’s the place to find information and entertainment for the whole family. If it’s been awhile since you visited the library, be prepared for a big surprise. It’s not just a place for kids to do research for school projects anymore. Many libraries have club meetings, art exhibits, lectures, poetry and book readings, and computers, besides all the kid activities.
The library provides a great way to get involved in your community. Clubs and community groups meet at the library, so make inquires about them or ask about starting a group of your own. If your library doesn’t already have it, you might want to start a poetry reading group, a writing group, or a recipe trading group. There are any number of hobbies or study groups others will be interested in.

One of the best things you can do for your child is to introduce them to the library. Take your child in and present them to the librarian. He or she will explain the rules of conduct and services offered. In most libraries, besides books to check out and read, there are games, puzzles, story telling, puppet shows, and workshops the kids can sign up for. The library can open up a whole new world of experiences for your child.
For the older members of the family, you will find information on every subject under the sun. You can study any subject that interests you in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, or start that new novel you wanted to read. You can check out books, videos and Cd’s to enjoy at home, all for free. Also, while the kids are busy you could do the research, and get on a computer to write your article for Triond. If you are lucky and the kids are especially good, you might have time to answer all those comments your friends made on your latest article.

In any case, you and the family will enjoy your visit to the library. It doesn’t cost you a penny, It won’t lighten your pocket book and will provide the family with knowledge and entertainment now and for a lifetime. It’s one of my favorite places.

Good article of support for a noble institution in deep trouble here in many Florida communities. When budget cuts have to be made it’s easy to remove programs and hours from the local library.

Ruby Hawk: Jorge Luis Borges once said that he imagined Heaven as a huge Library. Maybe the greatest libraries exist in Heaven, who knows. The thing is that they are really enjoyable. They give shelter to thousands of books which are one of the greatest venues of happiness for the Triond Family, no doubt. Great article. Regards, Hugo.

I have always enjoyed going to the library. When I was teaching our local library used to let me take my class for an annual visit and the children were taught how to use a library properly. A very good read.

It’s a pity that nowadays, students are not keen on going to the library. They get whatever resources they need in their studies through internet.. If only, they will grasp the beauty there is in a library.

Yay, Ruby! Yes, libraries are one of our greatest assets. Just remember to take good care of the books you borrow, and return them on time. Most library funding is statistic driven, so every time you visit, you are helping fund your library.

I agree with Daisy, libraries are our greatest asset. I love the peace and calm in a library. My children loved them from an early age as I took them weekly before they started school for story time and every summer we went once a week for a new book and then milkshakes. Thank you, Ruby for a wonderful article.

The library’s over where I live are a cooperative. If one library has the book, and yours doesn’t they can get you a book. It’s pretty great, espcially if you need books for a project. The only downside is that it takes forever to get the books depending on what’s goingon with them. I’ve had a book waiting to be sent out to me for like two weeks now. It’s something I can’t understand.. but the library is definitely great!

Libraries are a great resource and well worth our tax dollars. My county has a great County Library and all the towns in the county honor any library card issued in any town library in the county.

One of the things I miss most about living in the city is having a large, varied, and unbiased library to go to. An unbiased library being the most missed part.

I love going to the library. Sometimes I check whether they have the books I’m looking for online before I go, but a lot of the time I just go and browse. I’ve borrowed DVD’s and magazines as well as books. They also stock talking books, so that if you’ve got a long drive to do you can borrow a stack to keep you entertained on the way. And if I can’t get my books back on time, I can renew online so that I don’t get a fine for late returns.

Thank you everyone for your interest and comments. I love the library. I go every week and bring home an armload of books. It’s my favorite place. I’m glad you all take advantage of your libraries and I see that you do. We have one on the street behind our apt.and one down town. We go to both and if we want a book they don’t have they put us on the list and we soon do have it. I could give up almost anything before the library.

One of my favourite places is the library but I don’t go there much nowadays because of school commitments. In England here, you have computers and little comfy sofas, videos, CDs and everything in the world in the libraries and as you say, it really is fun and knowledge when you go there. This is a good article with a good message. Well done!
