Motorbike Stories
Some stories on how I started biking and my first accident.
Hi there this page is all about my Motor biking hobby, motorbikes and all the things I get up to on them.
I suppose I best start when I was a little lad my Uncle and some of my grandparents were in to their motorbikes so it planned a little seed in me that has always been there.
This seed remain pretty dormant until some of my friends started riding motorbikes when we were about 17. This just turned into a little itch then but never really got anymore than that. That was until one of my friends bought himself a Yamaha YZF-R6 in 2001 this I thought was a lovely looking motorbike. I sure just to rub my face in it I’m sure, he then went out the year after and bought a 1999 Yamaha YZF-R1. Which in my humble opinion was an even better looking motorbike and at that moment my decision was made I was getting my bike license and a bike.
It did take me a few years after that to get my motorbike license and a nerve racking test. I remember doing my motorbike test and my worst manoeuvre was turning in the road a U turn. I could do them but always with a bit of a wobble. I remember being put into my motorbike test and I was sweating and my tongue was stuck to the roof of my mouth but I passed and was so happy I can’t really put it into words.
My first motorbike was a Suzuki SV650s which at the time I thought was the best thing since sliced bread. Although once I’d bought it I had to tinker I’m always playing with things which is why I turned out to be an engineer.
The modifications that I made to my beloved SV was a non standard can, re-jetted the carburettors and a belly pan where the main modifications that I carried out on it.

But as I said earlier I’d always wanted a 99′ model Yamaha YZF-R1 motorbike and in the summer of 2006 one of my friends made an offhand comment on how he was selling one for a steal so the next day I was round and purchases my dream bike although it did need a little work you can see the finished version in the picture. I did have to replace a few mechanical items such as the EXUP valve in the exhaust.

I enjoyed ridding the bike for the next year when disaster struck. I overtook a car going up a hill and as I got to the top just over the brow the road went left and I didn’t. Due to the laws of physics I travelled through the hedge and did my best impression of a plough. Looking back at it I was very lucky with just a few damaged ligaments in my shoulder.
The bike on the other hand was F**ked please see picture.

So I spend the next 9 months rebuilding it. I had to replace:-
Front Forks and yoke.
Whole right hand side fairing
Front fairing
Headlights
Screen
Indicators
Tyres
These where just the main items
But as you can see from the picture you can see what it looks like now it has been re-built.

So hopefully if the summer is as good as they say it is going to be I’ll be out enjoying myself on it again this year.
