10 Camping Essentials

10 Camping Essentials

Camping provides a unique relationship with nature, and an unforgettable experience. So pack up these essentials and head to the woods.

The prices of gasoline and foods are rising, and not too many people can afford to go on an extravagant vacation this year. However, summer is the time to fully enjoy nature and luckily, there are still many inexpensive creations that we can participate.
One of these creations is camping, and this list will help you to pack the essentials for the trip.

First Aid Kit

You can pack your own first aid kit that tailor to your family needs. The most common items are bandages, scissor, antibiotic ointment, a pair of gloves, gauge, tweezers, safety pins, anti-itch cream, a match or lighter, and hand sanitizer.

Personal Items

These are your everyday items that you use, such as deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, hair brush/comb, dental floss, vitamin supplements, lotion, and sun screen.

Tent

Of course, a tent is mandatory for camping. It is your home and serves as a shelter for your adventure. You can have a two-person tent, or a gigantic 10- person tent, depending on the number of people you have in your group.

Sleeping Bag

Sleeping bag is a must, or an inflatable air mattress. You will have to tough it out on the ground so choose a sleeping bag that has insulation, and flannel liner.

Cooler

Some foods and drinks need to be stored in this temporary ice box. The coolers come in many sizes and colors. Packing your own foods and drinks can also save money, and keep the cost of having fun down.

Cooking Stove

How fancy do you want to be? You can purchase a camping stove at a very reasonable price, or you can cook your food on the fire pit. Also, a fire extinguisher is also recommended.

Cooking Supplies

Pack your cooking pots, pans, cooking utensils, and silverwares, for those delicious outdoor meals. Avoid buying Styrofoam plates and cups since they are bad for our environment.

Insect Repellent

Bug repellent can help your camping trip more pleasant. You want to protect yourself from bites or other diseases.

Lanterns/Flashlights and Batteries

These items are fun for the children at night. They help taking that fear out of the darkness, and provide a chance to tell story or making animal’s shadow with your hands.

Clean up Items

Make sure you take care of your trash, and save your recycle items. The earth is already in a fragile stage, so do what you can to keep it green. Better yet, pick up all garbage around you, whether it is yours or not before packing up to go home.
Now take time to research for that perfect camping sight. This is a good time to get away from the modern world, and have a wonderful experience with nature.

Good sensible advice, Icy. I think I’d have to take a camp cot along though. I’ve never really enjoyed roughing it.

My husband and I camped on our honeymoon 28 years ago and for several years we have camped with our children. The only concession to age we have made is that my husband and I have a queen size Coleman air mattress that we sleep on. Oh, and over time, we graduated to larger tents and brought along a screen tent for cooking and dining. An excellent list for those wanting to camp for the first time.
