Bear and The Love of Sleep
Bears are very large animals and can sleep for 100days non stop and can eat for 20 hours.
Bears are large mammals and usually have small rounded ears, short tails and lots of fur.
These are several different kinds of bears.
The grizzly bear from North America can weigh up to 450kg while others like the European brown bear are smaller. Polar bears are the largest of bears and line in the arctic where they prey on seals and other mammals. Strongly, the polar bear skin is actually black under-neath its fur and this is to attract and keep the warmth of the sun. Bears can eat for up to 20hours a day in summer and autumn-they are very crafty and efficient scavengers.
It is this ability to find nourishment in most places that often brings them into conflicts with human, especially in the Northern regions of Canada and Alaska where polar bears sometimes “invades” towns in search of food.
Natural parks, where tourist and campers often leave their rubbish, also tend to attract Hungry bears.
Bears go into a deep, along sleep ding the winter mouths this sleep is called hibernation. The black bear can sleep for up to 100days without needing food or water-but that because bears “stock” on food reserve all though the summer, which slowly got release during hibernation.
