Rattle Snake Danger

Unfortunately most of the tourists that travel through the south western sates aren’t aware of one of the dangers there. Rattle snakes are a poisonous snake that is wide spread there. Here are some hints on what to look out for and why.

When anyone travels into New Mexico they should be aware of the actual poisonous danger rattle snakes are. That’s because when a horse is bit by one of them it can pass away. Most of the horse owners in the north eastern part of that state have something to treat their horses with if one of them gets bit.

That snake bite danger is so fierce that most of the young people growing up in that state have to be taught several things to live safely. They learn how the snakes tend to stay in some sun for warmth so they don’t accidentally stumble into one while climbing about in the Rocky Mountains.

In many rural areas the rattle snake can catch one of guard. There has been some of them sitting by a front porch  as the resident exits their house or on the dirt road between the football field and high school gym as the football team stops practicing.

Several mechanics have been told to watch out when they start working on some engine in them Rock Mountains. They are warned about how the snakes love warm places during cold seasons so they can look closely by the radiator and keep from being bit by surprise.

There are several people in New Mexico that have pet rattle snakes. They do things like feed them rats and stick them in the refrigerator during the winter so they can hibernate.

Wild cats are loved in those dangerous places because the cats can kill or run off all the mice on your pasture. Without anything like that to eat the rattle snakes tend to disappear.

Strangely enough there are some places in Texas and New Mexico that use rattle snakes as food. You can hit some bar and grill during the rattle snake butcher season and get some of the snake along with your beer.

Rattle snakes have been a danger in the south west for many years. Them cowboy boots have tall sides and can keep your lower leg from getting bit. In the past cowboys used to skin any snake they had killed and strapped the hide around their cowboy hats.
