Three Tips for a Perfect Day at the Beach

De-stress for an afternoon by going to the beach to relax.

  1. Plan ahead for skin protection. First, make sure you have a really good sunscreen. When you get to the beach slather it all over your body. Make sure you get everything covered, like behind your ears, under your arms and behind your legs and knees. Reapply after your have been out awhile or after you have gone in the water. Have a cover up and hat handy. This will also help with skin protection and give you another layer in case of weather or wind and just walking to the car or snack bar. Take an umbrella for shade and maybe a beach chair. Don’t forget sunglasses! Very important!
  2. Plan ahead for healthy and good tasting foods. The snack bar will have high calorie, high fat, expensive snack food. Don’t let yourself get so hungry you have to indulge. Instead pack things like fruit and carrot and celery sticks in a cooler. Crackers and cheese tastes better than snack bar food, as does grape and pecan half micro-sandwiches.
  3. Take a good book, or two. You don’t have time to read for pleasure the rest of your life? This is your time to indulge. Me, I’m going to take a couple of books, just in case I can’t really get into one. I may also take one of my all time favorites to re-read, like Gone with the Wind, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, or To Kill a Mockingbird. Now you know you’ll enjoy re-reading those. I will.
