In the 80’s, roller rinks were all the rage. There was a disco ball in the middle of the dance floor. Skating backwards was the style for most children and adults back in the days. However, those disco days are gone. As a result, the popularity of roller skating has faded in the last several years. Looking back at my photo albums, I feel nostalgic when I see pictures of myself in the middle of the skating rink. Surrounded by my friends and their mothers, we stood next to a skating design cake in blue and yellow waiting for me to blow my six birthday candles. And my parents continued with the tradition of celebrating a few more of my birthdays at the roller skating rink, which I have to say that I really enjoyed. Till this day, I still own my first pair of red and white roller skates with red shoe laces.
