I don’t know if you caught the first episode of the Mo’Nique show but if you didn’t, then you definitely missed a lot. I knew it was going to be good but it was GREAT!! I will fill you in because personally she wowed me. Mo’Nique’s guests included Monica, Steve Harvey and singer Jeremih.  Mo’Nique came out dancing, with her plus size dancers and looking wonderful in her black dress and those cute red accent pumps that brought out the red sequence lip print designed tastefully on her back side .

The Mo’Nique show was kicked off by Cheryl Franklin (the mayor of Atlanta) honoring Mo’Nique with the Phoenix Award). Cheryl noted that Mo’Nique was a success and she rose from the dust, who Mo’Nique has successfully accomplished. Mo’Nique had a syndicated radio show that she quit on March 18, after running for only 8 months. Mo’Nique said that she left to further her career. You go girl.

Mo’Nique also introduced her crew making sure to note she has a sister playing the guitar (Deborah Killens) and her funny backup host Rodney Perry who she thanked and almost brought to tears.

Mo’Nique honored Xernona Clayton who in 1967 who was the first black women to be on TV and was also executive assistant to Dr. Martin Luther King. I was thinking, finally a show that honors those African American people who are currently hurdling obstacles and knocking down barriers especially when it is a women. Mo’Nique also awarded her first guest Steve Harvey with the Encouragement Award for uplifting so many people with his truthful, loving words. Mo’Nique thanked him for his inspirational words (“you got it and you are going to be a major star”) given by him to her in a parking lot of a comedy club (Uptown) one day. Steve Harvey is a powerful, inspirational, brother on his grind in the name of the Lord. How many people can honestly live up to that…LOL?!?! I wonder  if that’s why Ms.Clayton didn’t get an award lol. Just playing but I’m interested in whether or not Mo’Nique can inherit Oprah’s Midas Touch.

Mo’Nique endorsed Steve Harvey’s Show, with the challenge about the $250 she felt he owed her from the past, and his book, Act Like a Lady and Think Like a Man. Believe it or not, this book has been on the best sellers list for 32 weeks now, has 1.7 million books in print and is now available in 30 different languages. The book is also # 1 in South Africa, #9 in Australia and #1 is Millay)…get it Steve Harvey!! Steve Harvey says he has written this book to empower women and show them that men act differently from women because of different social expectation. He shines light on what misinterpretations actions that normally happen between men and women really mean and what behavior is and is not acceptable from a man under no circumstance.

(Music video for one of her singles of her album above.)

Monica was a wonderful guest, funny, open, feeling and sounding confident and sincere and looking stunning. Monica talked about her new reality show which shows her overcoming obstacles on her journey to find spirituality. She does this while dealing with the stresses of life and being a mother of two. Mo’Nique showed a clip of her show, where Monica is talking to producer Bryan Cox Monica’s.  The name of Monica’s new reality show is Monica: Still Standing and premiers on Oct 27th on BET. Monica gave a few inspirational quotes that make me believe her show will bring a refreshing and classy spin to the current available reality shows.  Mo’Nique states “ there is a difference between the men I use to date and the men I date right now…the music is way different”; “I love being in love but I loved to be loved right”; “ I appreciate him for being loved the right way and loving me the right way”. I want to know who has her man is because she glows like she truly in love. If you know please tell me… LOL!?!

Mo’Nique also endorsed Jeremih’s debut album which is self titled which has sold an impressive 60,000 in the record’s first week (which a decade ago use to be Platinum). Jeremih is from Chicago, graduated Morgan Park High School at 16 years old and attended University of Illinois to be an engineer. Attention ladies he definitely sounds like a great catch. I wonder if he’s married… LOL!?!

Mo’Nique ended the show by saying that encouragement is what got her to the point she is at today and that self belief and self esteem will get you far. Two of Mo’Nique’s own powerful beliefs and messages of encouragement she preaches also that have paved the road that Mo’Nique has driven along her path to success! I loved it and it is a feel good show focused on positively and growth.  I will definitely tune into The Mo’Nique and Steve Harvey’s Morning Show, which has 7 million listeners, to see the outcome of their cute debate about that money!  I wonder if Steve Harvey will bring this up on his show on Oct 6. I guess we will have to wait and see…LOL!?!

Mo’Nique is a class act showing that she addresses every issue between herself and her guess regardless of how petty. This includes; why Steve called her ignorant, why he was upset because she left a note in his office when she wasn’t there and why she felt cheated for an old appearance. Steve Harvey and Mo’Nique talked about how excited they were to be on the Oprah show. .How it feels to be sitting next to so much money. It was hilarious.
