- His full name is Claude Oscar Monet.
- He was born on November 14, 1840.
- He was born in Paris.
- He was born on the 5th floor of a building.
- He was a famous French artist known for impressionism.
- He made the term “Impressionist” by painting an impressionist picture called Impression, Sunrise.
- His mother died when he was 17.
- His father died when Monet is 31.
- His first son, Jean Monet, was born in 1867.
- He tried to kill himself in 1868, but failed.
- He married Camille Doncieux in 1870.
- His second son, Michel Monet was born in 1878; one year before his mother died.
- He married Alice Hoschedé in 1892.
- He started to have vision problems in 1907.
- Alice died in 1911.
- Jean died in 1914.
- In 1923, Monet needed eye surgery because he was nearly blind.
- From 1916 – 1926 he worked on 12 large canvases called The Water Lilies.
