Times of Al-Jaahiliya

Abu Bakr was born in the year 573, in Mecca, from a wealthy family in quraish. He was the first Man to accept Islam, and the closest friend of the prophet (SAAWS). When Abu Bakr was 18 years old, he adopted the profession of a cloth merchant, continuing in his father’s steps. Soon, he became a very rich and successful merchant. His birth name was abd-ul-kaa’bah, meaning the servant or slave of the kaa’bah, and after becoming a Muslim, his name was changed to Abdullah.

Early Islam

Abu Bakr’s wife, Qutaylah bint Abd-Al-Uzza, did not accept Islam, which resulted in her divorce from Abu Bakr. However, his other wife, Um Ruman became a Muslim instantly.

All Abu Bakr’s children accepted Islam, except Abd-ar-Rahman, which resulted in his father abandoning him. Through various Da’wah missionaries, some people became Muslims, thanks to Abu Bakr, including:

Othman bin Affan Abu Bakr had stayed a true and faithful believer ever since

Abdur Rahman bin Awf the message of Islam had started. He had freed slaves, felt

Sa’d bin abi Waqaas the pain of persecution, and had never doubted in

Abu Ubaidah bin Al Jarraah believing Muhammad (SAAW).

Before Khilaafah

Abu Bakr had paid for the land in which the nabawi mosque was built on. Abu Bakr had stayed with Khaarij bin Zaid Al Ansaari ounce he had came to Medina. In 623, Abu Bakr’s daughter, Aisha, had married the prophet (SAAWS), who she was already engaged to. Abu Bakr participated in the battle of Badr and Uhud, in which his own son who had not become Muslim yet, Abd-ar-Rahmaan, had challenged him. He (Abu Bakr) accepted the challenge immediately, but the blessed prophet (SAAWS) had stopped him. These are the battles in which Abu Bakr fought in.
