- He was a talented professional photographer and a Sunday school teacher.
- In 1954 the comic book House of Mystery named him “America’s Most Mysterious Man”.
- A group of doctors often had Cayce diagnose and treat patients remotely, simply by providing the patients names to Cayce while in one of his hypnotic sleeps. He never needed any more information than the patient’s name.
- When reading a patients past lives, Cayce often referred to the subjects previous lives as if he were looking at a book, and referred to it as such.
- Edgar Cayce, in his conscious state, spoke only English, but, when giving readings, he is estimated to have spoken in more than twenty different languages.
- Edgar Cayce first went into a “hypnotic sleep” as child, and he used those “sleeps” to help him memorize his school books. Later, as an adult, he rediscovered this ability when trying to cure himself of some sort of paralysis of the throat.
- Even when Cayce gave “life” readings, and not “body” readings, he often gave dietetic advice, so powerful did he see the bond between body and soul.
- His dietetic and health advice was often decades ahead of its time, with insights that modern medicine would not gleen for many years. Many of his holistic treatments are widely used today, although he is not always credited for creating them.
