Gandhi was an inspirational leader, a peacemaker, and an ordinary man. He led many people closer to peace and harmony in others and in themselfs. Gandhi alone stopped a civil war in India, between the Muslim=s and the Hindu=s. He was and will be honored by everyone.

I think Gandhi=s legacy in life was to have world peace. He did not want to see anyone fight over anything. He was all about equal rites and equality for everyone. He did not call himself only Hindu he called himself Muslim also, this helped promote peace and bring unity to India. Gandhi was against all forms of war and violent protest.  Two times Gandhi fasted to stop violent protests against English rule in India were many English guards died. This was only one way he helped peace prosper through his life.

Gandhi fasted and stopped a civil war between All the Religions in India. Millions of people laid down their arms to keep a single man, Gandhi, alive. He convinced many that war and fighting was not the answer to anything. Gandhi once said that an eye for an eye would make the whole world blind. He helped take English rule out of India in his peaceful protest. A few times the English provoked the people and caused riots but Gandhi soon put them to rest when he fasted. Everyone listened to Gandhi.

Gandhi gave up his life to world peace. I think Gandhi did this because he did not want to see fighting between his people in India. He saw himself as an English citizen but, he was not treated as one at all. Gandhi was probably tired of unfair rule, where if the government thought you did something wrong then you were put in jail or beat you. This was one problem Gandhi had because it provoked the Indian people into violent riots, not peaceful protest. This was what the English wanted, riots and civil war to pull the pressure off of them. Gandhi fought against this pressure and in the end won.

Non- violence has always meant a lot to me but, after watching the movie it has meant more to me then ever. I now see more clearly how much violence gets you nowhere in life and how peace gets you farther then anything else. Gandhi was and is a great leader who will be heeded through out all time. Gandhi taught us we are all brothers and sisters, our religions all preach for us to spread peace, and this was what he preached. Gandhi was a great and inspirational leader who should be revered through all time.
