Gary Paulson

Gary Paulson

Gary Paulson is a great writer. Although he had a horrible life as a kid, he was able to write over 350 books, from juvenile books to novels.

He was born on May 17, 1939, and was the son of Oscar and Eunice Paulson. When he went to school he was shy, terrible at sports, he had no friends and his teachers ridiculed him. His parents were alcoholics and he was often left alone. Usually the only thing that would cheer him up is reading. He got into reading by one day going to his public library in 20 below temperatures.

At first he went in to just get warm, but then the librarian asked him if he wanted a library card. When she handed him the library card he was hooked. After that he would spend hours in his basement reading books every day. Soon after a while he ran away from home and joined a traveling carnival at the age of 14.

As he grew up he began writing books, and have gotten many awards for them like the Missouri Award for Children’s Literature, Midland Author Award, and the Alan Award. Also some of his books like Dogsong , Hatchet, and the Winter Room have been Newberry Honor Books.

He has written a variety of books as a writer. He has wrote novels, non fiction, juvenile, adventure, and western.

In conclusion, Gary Paulson is an excellent writer and I look foreword to reading more of his works. He is definitely a very good author as he has written so much.

You may want to correct your spelling of Gary Paulsen’s last name. He spells it with an e not an o.
