George-etienne Cartier
A father of confederation of Canada. Respect your country.
Born in 1814, George was a lawyer, statesman and Father of Confederation. He was a great descendent of Jacques Cartier, a famous explorer. When he was finished his education, he was inspired by Louis-Joseph Papineau to law practice. He was great and joined the rebellion in Lower Canada in 1837. He was removed/exiled and became a short-term refuge to Vermont. When he was allowed to return in 1838, he continued law training. In 1848, Cartier was elected to the Legislature of Canada. Soon he became leader of the Conservatives or Parti Bleu. As a new politician, he smartly became friends with MacDonald to work with. At both Confederation Conferences in 1864, Cartier helped to encourage the Maritime and Atlantic Colonies to form a union. His best effort managed to persuade the French to join and favour Confederation. He was a strong leader in the new government as well. Though politically and mentally strong, his body couldn’t carry on and died from a kidney disease.
