Henry Ford
A biography of Henry Ford.
Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863, in Dearborn Michigan. Henry had a mom, dad and 5 younger brothers and sisters. Henry Ford grew up on a farm with his family. As a child, Henry disliked working on the farm, but loved to tinker with watches and other machines. That made a terrible relationship with his father.
After Henry’s mother died, he moved to Detroit, Michigan when he was only sixteen. He took a job in the Edison Illuminating Company. He studied inventions in Detroit. When he heard his old neighbor made his own steam invention company, he went to Dearborn to work with them.
One time on Christmas eve, henry went to a dance. He met a woman named Clara Jane Bryant. They married on April,1888. After doing more tinkering, Henry finally made a car called the quadricycle. But that wasn’t good enough for him. He started building an even bigger machine. When he was done building it, he named it the Model T. The Model became very famous because it was affordable, and reliable. However, there was one issue, his company couldn’t make Model T’s fast enough. So, Henry started using Assembly lines. It was so fast, they produced over 300,000 cars in a year. The cars sold so expeditiously, Henry created the River Rouge plant. The Ford company became on of the largest automobile company in the world. One of his quotes were, “ Unquestionably, the company that lays proper stress on service is bound to grow rapidly though out the years.” Henry became so famous, that people encouraged him to run for Senate. He ran for Senate but lost by a few thousand votes. By then, henry Ford was too old. So, he handed over leadership of the Ford Company to his grandson. In the meantime, Henry built the Henry Ford museum. The museum showed many cars that were made in the past . Henry believed children should visit the past instead of remembering names and places. Henry Ford died on April 7, 1947. Henry Ford was remembered as a hardworking, helpful, and a hero of the automobile industry.
