Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was a very important man because he painted many of the famous painting such as The last supper and the renaissance man. He  was a Italian polymath, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, sculptor, painter, musician, architect, botanist and writer and he created many famous paintings such as The last supper and the renaissance man. Leonardo is widely considered to be one of the best painters in history and the most talented person that ever lived. He is mostly known for his painting “Mona Lissa” and the renaissance man. Leonardo was born on April 15th 1452 in the Tuscan town of Vinci in the territory of Florence Italy. He was the son of Messer Piero Frosino di Antonio Vinci an notary of Florence and a slave that might have came from the middle east.

There is not much known about Leonardo’s childhood but it is recorded that he married a girl but died young. later on in life he was inspired with one of the greatest artists of his time Andrea di Cione. Leonardo was exposed to a vast range of skills in Chemistry, metallurgy, metal working, mechanics, leather working, plaster casting, carpentry and many artistic skills as well. In Leonardo’s professional life he worked as an artist through (1476-1513). In 1478 he was commissioned to paint the altar piece for the chapel of st Bernard and the adoration of the magi in 1481 for the monks of San donato a scopeto, this commission was interrupted when he went to Milan. in 1482 he was a very talented musician according to Vasari, Leonardo made a Lyre in the shape of a horses head as a gift to Milan. Leonardo worked on many other projects such as Ludovico and preparation for floats on special occasions, the designs for a dome in the Milan Cathedral and a huge equestrian monument.

When the second Italian war started Leonardo fled Milan for Venice where he was hired as a military architect and engineer making ways to defend the city. When he returned to Florence he stayed as a guest with many others with the servite monks. During the time Leonardo created a workshop and wrote the cartoon called “The Virgin And Child With St. Anne And St. John The Baptist” in 1500. Leonardo continued to work as an architect and worked for various leaders until his old age. In 1513 through 1516 Leonardo spent much of his time living in the Vatican in Rome. On October 1515 Francis I of France recaptured Milan. Leonardo was commissioned by Francis I to create a lion that could walk forward and then open its chest to show lilies. Leonard died on 1519, Francis became close friends with Leonardo and it was recorded that Francis held Leonardo’s head in his lap as he died. Leonardo da Vinci is considered to be one of the best artists in history he painted some of the more renown pictures. Leonardo was a very good artist that inspired more artists to follow from his work.
