Lives to Remember: Howard Hughes
Part one in a series: A retrospective of extraordinary lives.
Howard Robard Hughes was born in 1905. The exact date is unknown since he had no birth certificate. It is believed by many to have been Christmas eve. He is thought of by most as “mad” or “eccentric.”
There is however, more to the man than his later years that were mired in mental illness. He built a billion dollar empire through ingenuity and innovation. Many modern technologies including satellite television were created because of his genius. The next time you think of Howard Hughes, don’t think of the OCD mired recluse he became.
Think of the way he was before. His passion for life and love, his engineering brilliance, and the many contributions he made to the modern world. His contributions revolutionized many industries, Including film, but especially modern air travel.
A documentary film about his life called The Aviator delves headlong into his life as an entrepreneur and film director, as well as an Aviation pioneer and takes a poignant, unflinching look at his personal life. His life, His loves, his brilliance and his later tragic spiral into a life of seclusion, pain, mental illness and addiction.
Howard Hughes can be summed up in this short statement;
“Genius, revolutionary, lover, free thinker, and some say, madman”.
All in all to say Howard Hughes was before his time is an understatement To say he was a pioneer doesn’t even come close to doing his life justice. In one word Howard Hughes was enigmatic. It was often stated by many associated with Hughes that he may have been too driven for his own good, but his legacy of innovation and genius is his true memorial.

this is great
i like how you kind of strayed further away from the negatives aspects of his life and more toward his extraordinary accomplishments, the things he should really be remembered for
