Tesla; One Wild and Crazy Kind of Engineer
A brief description of Tesla’s life and accomplishments.
While a great number of engineers have contributed achievements and inventions to civilizations across the globe in the past few centuries, only one can be titled the greatest engineer of the 20th century. A great number of candidates spring to mind when one mentally inventories the great engineers of the 20th century, but Nikola Tesla’s contributions put him at the top of my list. Tesla’s AC motor and transformer, as well as his help in inventing and popularizing 3-phase electricity, alternating current, modern radio, and his famous Tesla Coil make him one of the most prolific inventors of the 20th century. In addition to his theories and inventions which revolutionized the usage of electricity, Tesla was somewhat of an eccentric, and despite his many revolutionary inventions, he is remembered largely for many of his eccentric ideas and inventions. His plans for the construction of ‘Death Rays’, and flying saucers are remembered in Science Fiction movies today. All in all, Tesla was a great scientist, thinker, and engineer, who also had a strange side that made him far more memorable than many of his counterparts.
